If the airstone increased the PH of the tank, you need more waterflow/surface aggitation.
Gas exchange (o2 absorbtion and co2 exhaust) happens at the water's surface. A powerhead (or two) pointed towards the water's surface will help a lot.
How much flow do you have? List all pumps/powerheads/skimmers etc that are in use during the 'low PH'.
The goal is 10-20x tank turnover per hour. Some folks even have much more flow than that. |
