I'd say Nitrates killed the shrimp.
8 gallon is hard to keep the perfect levels in my opinion.
Need CUC to help get rid of extra food, and dead shrimp, etc...

I lost a fish, but am certain the CUC ate him up, so I never had an amonia spike.
