So I took some pics of an idea that I have for my refugium/sump. Do you think this will work?

I have the skimmer draining to the refugium then overflowing to the refugium side. The skimmer area I plan on having more like rock rubble as well and the return pumps will be in front of the refugium are. The skimmer will be under 9" of water.
