The goodmorning thread is a daily occurrance in the general section. The time we woke up and the local weather is about as off topic as I can think of and that thread should be in the off topic forum. It isn't, most likely because it is a daily thread and it is one of those things that becomes routine, so you leave it be.

I believe this came up in another suggestion thread and it was established by the mods that an exception had/has been made for the good morning threads. I think the premise (and I don't want to speak for the mods here) is that it represents the "family atmosphere" that we (being the members as a whole) strive for on RS. I can't remember where it was discussed, perhaps I can try to find the link...
