i have had the diy yeast systems, hagen makes a cool one. but in my openion they all stink. bottled is nice and easy acurate and cheeper in the long run. Suger for 4 two leiter bottles cost a lot. compared to 4 dollars every 3-4 weeks.plus if the yeast backs up into your system it can creat havock. plus most people go with the diy systems because bottled usally cost more to start up . the system i have is definalty a huge step up from diy yest. but it is the cheapest way to get bottled co2 to your tank.and very effective my plants took off like weeds.
