Welcome Carl,
As you can see from all the responses that have been posted this is the RIGHT place to be if you have questions. I havn't been given any bad advice here yet.
As you can also see there is a never ending amount of learning to be done.
You are smart to research before you start, I have a husband who wanted to dive right in and who is very impatient. Lucky for us things worked out.
I find that as soon as you feel confident with everything something else comes up that you don't know, and so on and so on...
The best advice I was given was to get "Saltwater for dummies". It is a very easy read with alot of information. I keep it beside the aqarium to use as reference as well as posting my questions.
