It also could be a colony of dusters. Grab a pic, it may not be clear to you, but someone who knows these animals may know. Feather dusters are a WONDERFUL addition to a tank. People pay for them, I do not know why you would want to get rid of them? The also help to lower your Nitrates..Try and get a picture up. Are there little tubes that the "crown" (feathers) retract into when touched by something/another fish? If not they could be something else..
