| Re: OT:Science Curriculum Change in FL to start, let me say that i am a strong believer in intellegent design. this includes MICRO evolution, not MACRO evolution.
that being said, "theory" is the single most missunderstood word in science. a theory is not an educated guess, but a tried and tested explanation that has been accepted by the scientific community. so distinguishing between scientific theory and fact is kind of a silly thing.
however, to claim that evolution is somehow a more "scientific" explanation than intelligent design is ridiculous. both are working with the same evidence and neither can be completely proven. both require faith in something that we can not test. they are both completely biased, just based on two opposite standpoints. when evolutionists interpret evidence, they try to see how it would explain how all life came from no life and progressed over billions of years. when creationists/intelligent design proponents interpret evidence, they do so with the belief that all life was created by an intelligent designer (if the idea of God scares you, think of it as aliens or time travelers!) and then the different kinds evolved and adapted to different enviornments to form the biodiversity we enjoy now. |
