They are incredibly tough little buggers, just try not to let him freeze and I bet he'll be just fine. I rescued one from certain doom in the formaldehyde jar on a boat trip and he lived in a jar as big as he was for about 24 hours. I had him in a species tank at school until somebody snatched him
