A low pH -- a pH out of range -- is a stressor on the fish. The correct pH was likely affected by your additions, which in turn returned the water quality from not-so-good, to good.

Like the human common cold, Lymphocystis is a virus. Also like the human virus, there are no known definitive cures for the masses, for virus infections -- in humans and fishes.

I have so far not heard or seen any medical breakthrough indicating we have found a cure for common viral infections. Still looking though.
