I will assume that the species name (
sepiacauda) means reddish-brown tail.
Sepia=reddish-brown
From the Latin, cauda=tail
Although the
sepiacauda has a black spot on it operculum, it somehow had to be differentiated from the
opercularis because of its tail morphology.
