Re: So YELLOW tangs will school....

How long has the scopas been in that tank? Scopas are some of the more passive tangs out there so the hybrid might be okay with him. Is the scopas much larger or smaller than the hybrid? I had that hybrid with my smaller scopas hybrid and they were getting along fine. As long as the new one isn't too much of a threat territory wise to your older tang they should be fine.

Also, being more passive tangs, even if they don't get along they are not as likely to beat each other up as badly as other tangs. If they don't like each other just use my no-fail fish catching trick of turning the lights on 3-4 hrs after they go to sleep, works like a charm.

For example I have a 2.75" half black mimic tang thats been in my tank since the summer. I introduced a slightly larger tomini tang into that tank in November. The mimic was territorial but not as physically brutal as my purple tang thats in my larger system. What is harder is introducing a new tang to a system that already has more than one tang because they will wail on the new guy. As a rule of thumb its always important to introduce the most aggressive tang last so the more passive guys have a chance. Or introduce 2 tangs at a time to a tank that has more than one established tang. This works for wrasses and other stuff as well.

I've even gone as far as removing my purple tang to a smaller system in order to put in a new tang and then putting the purple back in the system a few weeks later. Of course you need multiple tanks in order to do this. ;p
