| Re: My 120g Acrylic Tank Chronicle WOW!!!! What a busy morning! I've been back and forth on the phone with Paul from Motions Ocean, and James from Envision Acrylics... Lets just say that all the previous drawings and ideas have been scratched and between the 3 of us, we have came up with some good ideas.
First, we scratched the "coast to coast", and now there will be a 20" trapezoid overflow centered in the back of the tank.
Secondly, Paul designed a Closed Loop for me that with the use of a 4-way will almost triple my gph with a Dart! With a 48" tank, there will be 2 CL returns on the far wall 2 feet apart as close to the bottom as possible, and 2 CL returns mounted on the tank bottom as close to the front glass as I can get them. The the sump return will be ran over the top of the overflow, and the CL suction drain will be located on the tank bottom directly below that. This type of set up will create a "barrel roll" and according to Paul will increase not only flow but my skimming capabilities.
The back walls will bring any detritus and water flow from the back of the tank to the front. Then the front returns will blow it back up towards the overflow. The sump return will be rotating the water at the surface and by doing so will not only increase skimming, but will blow the water back down to the CL suction drain... Thus causing a barrel effect.
So there you have it! All done. Just waiting for the final approval from James, and we'll be off and running.
I do want to thank all of you who have put up with my bombardment of questions. You all have been very helpful in this long and hard decision process.... Believe me there will be more questions coming! |
