1" drain will provide 600 gph. 1 1/2" - 1200 gph.

How much flow do you want through your sump? I've read that it's recommended at about 10x tank capacity.

Thats for the drain. Return side can be and will be pressurized so a 1" can carry 4000+ gph but then you have a lot of flow coming out of one pipe. I'd recommend to 1" return lines.

A 1" return coming out of the pump and use a "Y" to split it into two pipes going into the tank.
