Re: Lynn and Frank's saltwater adventure.

Well the next couple of days should be interresting in the reef. We may have killed it all. I noticed earlier that several corals were pouting. I thought it was a bit odd that they were pouting at the same time but of course I was doing other things so I really didn't give it much thought. I just went over to give the tank it's evening top-off and glanced at the ph and temp meter like I always do. The temp showed 71.9. My first thought was that the meter was broken. Then I put my hand against the glass and it was definitely chilly. I went over to the chiller and somehow it was on 68 degrees. Obviously I turned it off.
Anybody have any suggestions of what to do or am I best off just letting it gradually warm up and hope for the best? Right now everything looks alive but the leathers are all pouty. Not any worse than they get when they pout for no reason but pouty none the less. The fish are swimming around and the clams are open normally and look fine.
I am thinking any drastic action I take is likely to make things worse so my instinct is to let it be and let the temp go back up on it's own.
I guess I finally know if the chiller is big enough to bring down the temp on the seahorse tank. If it can bring the reef down to 72 then it can keep the pony tank there.
I wish I had some idea how it got that way though. I haven't gone back to investigate if it is broken or if somebody did something or what.
Hopefully everything will not die. Obviously I will keep a close watch for any fatalities in the next couple of days so they can be removed promptly and not cause further problems.

You can't change the past but you can change how you view it.

A reef tank is like a racecar. The faster you go the harder you crash.

Lynn and Franks saltwater adventure

Lynn's 20g clown tank

Lynn's 90g of sunshine

Every 60 seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back.
