| Running an LFS has got to be hard work A week or so ago I dropped by my favorite LFS. I was saddened to see his fish were looking poorly. A lot had ich & several banks of display tanks were being treated. I felt bad because in the several years being open he always had nice looking livestock. IMO the best in my area . I stopped by again today & his crew was busy draining & scrubbing out all the displays.& breaking down filtration systems. The back room was stuffed with temporary containers full of coral frags & makeshift filtration. I didn't ask what happened specifically but he say he had been battling several types of disease then the cold snap was the last straw. He decided to clean & sanitize it all & start again. He said it would be at least couple weeks before he was ready to go again. That had to be quite a hit for his business. I applaud the guy for doing the right thing. I have walked into the other shops in my area with the same poor looking livestock again & again. They just keep restocking. It has got to be a tough way to make a buck! I'm going to do what little I can to keep this LFS's doors open. |
