The smaller water volume of a nano is far less forgiving than that of larger tanks. It takes verylittle to upset the params, so a sump is an advantage, if you don't have a sump regular weekly water chagnes will help keep things in shape. The good side is that on a 12G tank a 10% change is only 1.2G, a whole lot easier than a 120G. A skimmer is a mjor plus, IMO, but it is possible without one. I agree with Danny on the PC lights.
