| Re: Are Copepods Visible? Most copepods are imported on rocks or frags.
When I first started, I bought 22lbs of rock from a local reefer who was breaking down his tank. Instant copepods and coraline!! It was awesome!!
I have pods running around in my tank and refugium. They are as plentiful as ants in a forest. My 6-line wrasse and flame angel eat em up like candy.
It's really cool when you can get a pod loose from the glass and floating around in the tank. My mag float collects pods. They seam to enjoy migrating to the ridges and valleys on the scrubber side of the mag float. I can shake the float in the water and usually knock a dozen of them loose. My angel and 6-line have caught on and now wait patiently as I thrash and shake the float around. As soon as pods start flying off--it's a feeding frenzy. Really cool to watch.
I even saw a pod fall right into the tentacles of a brown button polyp once. The polyp curled up and swallowed it instantly. That was cool. |
