Yes, it is some sort of branching sponge. I get it growing along the back wall. I don't know what kind but I am sure it is harmless.
The leather you might move a bit further away from the nigh flow and let it open up. It doesn't have to have really strong flow, just enough to keep it clean. It probably won't open in direct, one-way current. |
