Yes ,that would help.Jaming only becomes a prob when the door is set real high.Like 1/3rd of the door is in the channel the other 2/3rds is above the trap. Also positioning the pin in the center keeps it balenced . Jammng may not be such a problem if the door is held at the top. I'm not sure.
