I'm not sure of their natural placement. But with you lighting upgrade, I would definitely leave them on the substrate for now. After the upgrade you can sloooooowly move them up if you'd like. I know folks keeping acans and euphyllias in the upper 2/3rds of the tank under 250w MH with no trouble.Just be sure to acclimate them to the new lighting.
