| Well as the Dood said if your using a metal reflector, that is where you will need to go with the ground. Also what Curts said is true, that ground is protecting any possible electrical encounters with the metal hood, thus if you remove all the metal their is no need for that ground. If you make a larger hood and reinstall the metal cover, then you will need that ground again. I have my ballast grounded but from the ballast it goes to the end caps that I've mounted on the hood, I have no ground up there but It wouldn't hurt to ground the reflector for the very same reason.
