I have the glass top for mine and I decided not to use it. It leaves an open space in the back when it's pushed forward and one of my fish likes to sleep at the top. He's ended up in the back before. I changed it and use egg crate instead. I cut it to fit around all of my tubes and wires and it gets more air. I think the glass was about $12-14.
