I have had a lot of clams - lost some, and have kept many. One of the biggest things I noticed is don't move them unless absolutely necessary. Also, if they tip on their side, try to gently right them or frequently they don't get enough light on their mantle. I have 3 maximas now (yours are amazing and I love them!!!). All have done well. I had one maxima that I loved for 2 years and then he just up and died. I was terrified it was pinched mantle, but it wasn't because no other clam died. I had a few small ones in my prop tank recently die because they were on their sides and I did not check on them for a few days. Now, I try to keep them in baskets with pebbles to anchor their feet to (humm, is it feet because it is plural? or just foots
