That's how I have mine prow. In my nano cube it just sits down inside chamber #3 and probably against the bottom of the tank.

In my home tank it's inside my HOB fuge and just down inside chamber #1 and against against the acrylic and bottom. As long is it's submerged the water-flow will not allow it to over heat.
