Re: Question about spectrums...

Daniel my Nano-Cub came with a pair of 50/50 bulbs and they looked "OK" until I ordered new bulbs and did like Jack just suggested... instead of 2x 50/50 I have one daylight and one actinic. I like it a lot better. I opted to upgrade mine to add an addition fixture and went with another daylight bulb.

In addition to this I think you might want to consider going with the 144w or you may end up wishing you did a little later on. Speaking from exeprience here but I always seem to try and justify "doing just enough for now" and within a month I'm looking at my tank and going "Doohhh! I shouldn't went all out when I had the chance.. now I gotta take it all apart AGAIN!!" Think seriously about the 144w buddy.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...(-NO3=WC%)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.
