mmm, if your plenum is in the sump then it is already a refugium aswell. if your plenum has a sand bed with a screen to prevent critter from burrowing down to the plenum just add a couple peices of LR some macros add a light puff, you got a exporting pod cultivating refugium

FYI. most public aquriums employ a plenum.
