Hi Everybody! First off, thank you for providing such a welcoming environment; it’s more conducive for people like me to post. My name is Jim, and I’m in north Florida.

I’m a newbie of sorts, because the last SW tanks I kept were about 20 years ago; geez- the technology has changed so much! When I broke my tanks down years ago, I had a couple of larger FO (about 70G?) tanks and four, thriving, 10G reef tanks. Crushed coral substrate, undergravel filters with power heads, and outside filters to polish; not exactly the formula for success, but they flourished for some reason. Back then small reef tanks were considered risky I guess, but I didn’t know any better. I had so much fun with it though… take away the fear of failure, and you can really enjoy your hobby (or obsession).
Anyway, the bug bit again. I set up a simple, freshwater Eclipse a couple months ago and went to my LFS to get a couple fish; and, then I caught the scent of SW. That’s all it took. I left with a BioCube 8G that day and am off and running. I have been scouring this forum and have been enthralled with amount of information here. Thank you so much! Now that my LR and sand are arriving today, however, I seem to’ve forgotten everything. Hence another post is coming below. Once again, thanks for being so friendly, and forgive my longwinded-ness.
Jim
