I found the perfect stuff. I had a fish end up back there too. Go to
McMaster-Carr and lookup part number 12335a63. It's rubber weather strip kind of stuff that fits on that back edge and is tall enough to reach the lid. I cut it into pieces so that it follows the angles. It's easy to take off and clean too. Sorry about your little guy...
