If you want to do it the budget way, you can just use lemon juice with a syringe. I have done it in the past with success. The reason i boiled the rock this time was because it was on just the one rock with nothing but coraline attached to the rock. It worked great for me. But since you had corals attached to your rock I would not recommend it.
