Sea hares are definitely they way to go for a hair algae problem. The tank was looking pretty gross for a while, but Gwendolyn has almost completely eliminated the hair algae. And just so neat to watch! Gwen actually ate some alage out of my hand the other night.

She was $15 from the LFS and worth every penny!
When Buffalo (our former sea hare) died I did have a sharp ammonia spike, but that cleared out with the water change; neither of them has ever inked. That might be related to the variety of hare and/or the diet?
She seems to like nori after it's softened up a bit. It's sort of a switch to be thinking about how to grow more algae rather than get rid of it!
