Melanie don't give up. I know that you are discouraged but honestly the hobby can be easy if you start right, take your time, research and ask lots of questions. It is expensive. Don't get me wrong, you're going to spend a lot of money to do it right. Once it's done you'll have a tank that is an absolute pleasure.
I know that it sounds harsh but DaveK has done you a great favor by being honest and telling you like it is. I've been doing saltwater aquariums and reefs on and off for almost 35 years and I can tell you that things have changed tremendously. Now is one of the best and easiest times to have a nice tank that's easy to maintain. You've also found one of the best groups here at Reef Sanctuary that you could ever hope to find. I've only been here a short period of time and they have taught me a thing or two.
Take your time, think things over, even take a break if you need one. Then if you decide to do a complete reset, we will all be here to help you.
Remember, you can only patch a tire so many times and then it's time for a new one. It will be much easier to start over than to fix what you have going now. |
