when the tank is full of food (tanks that get fed heavier) they will move around more and molt more often.
BUT
crabs and i mean Crabs like to big claw crabs.. are a completely diffrent story... they are just violent they "seak locate and exterminate" anything they can get there usely huge claws on.....
after i found this guy in my tank (hitched his way in) i some how cought him and chucked him in the return size of the sump.....
He lived there for a year about.... and is now pritty large.

I hate to disagree but this is not my experience at all. Everything in my house is well fed to say the least including everything in the tank which once contained hermits. (Hermits got me into this addiction so I had lots initially.) Anyway, they molted frequently as you say but they also would go after snails (in spite of many spare shells around) and even fish or anything else they could get their claws on.
They are creatures of opportunity. If they can catch it, they will eat it. Regardless of how well fed they are.
Amusingly enough I just added a few crabs back to my tanks. Scarlet hermits of course since Woodstock swears they are nice and won't kill my snails etc.
