Re: 90 Gallon Starphire Start-up

Hey All....it's been WAYYYY to long since I have been on here.

I kinda lost touch while the tank was cycling and have been trying to take care of a few issues. Had and to sum extent still have some micro bubbles in the DT and have been trying to find the source of a cyano outbreak and deal with that lately.

Trying to solve the bubble problem and upgrade (yes upgrade already) my system a little. I have switched out the used sump and the GX-6000 submersible return pump for a new sump (a little smaller with more baffles) and a Blueline HD40x external return pump. I love the new set up and the slightly smaller sump makes maintenance much easier. However, I do still have some micro bubbles working their way past the baffles!! What a pain...I have an other tread here about them, but they are generated from the overflow pipe into the sump and I just can't get right of them.

It also seems I have some high phosphates that I am guessing are a major contributing cause to my cyano since all other parameters are good. Going to take care of tht this week....I am finding that cyano is quite resilient, treated twice with no results! Any suggestions to the best phosphate remover?

So this weekend I will finally be ready to add some of the good stuff; clean up crew at least. I want to feel like I am making some progress finally!

Pics to come in the next day or so of the new plumbing etc.

Cheers,
J
