Re: Osmolator and Precision Marine Kalk Reactor

Hi Bluespot!

It looks like Murphy (as in "Murphys' law) has taken up residence at your house! I'm glad to hear that you got the leak fixed, was a little"amused" about the airline thing (I thought that I was the only one to do that), but I'm mystified as to why your relay seems to stick on your Reefkeeper. the only two things that come to mind would be arc burning actually welding the contacts in the relay shut ( this should cause a "constant on" situation), or that the Osmolator is drawing enough current to keep the solenoid switch in the reefkeeper on (closed circuit whenever it's drawing electricity). It looks more like the latter than the former from your description. Please check the load rating of your Reefkeeper (Maximum draw in Amps), and the actual load (Amps) used by the Osmolator. If the Osmolater exceeds the rating of the reefkeeper, you will need to change to a different controller for your' Osmolator. Hoping that I'm incorrect, and this is a warranty issue for you and the reefkeeper people to work out, but if you're drawing more power than the reefkeeper is rated for, you could potentiallly be risking a fire.
I hate to even mention such things (fire), but after putting out an electrical fire twice at work and once under my reef at home (Glad we "ate-in" that night!) in the last ten years, I thought it worth mentioning.
Sorry you're having so much trouble, ( Ask Murphy to leave).
Regards,
Dean
