Sohals are arguably the most agressive of the tangs and tangs are generally considered agressive fish. I would only have one in a very large agressive tank.
Maroons stay smaller and are not as agressive as the Sohal, but they certainly can be nasty.
Also you mention you want to know a fish for a small tank? How small and what else do you have in the tank. Tangs for instance all require a larger tank. Depending on your tank size they may be out of the question to begin with. The recommendation for tanks is no less than a 4ft 75g tank and that is the absolute smallest. I have 2 tangs in a 6 ft 125 and am going to need to either upgrade the tank or find a new home for them in the next year or two.
