Re: Chiller for a 80 gallon reef tank

I have a 1/4 hp Pacific Coast chiller that works great on my system. It keeps my 125g reef, 24g seahorse tank, 29g fuge, and 29g sump at 77 even here in Florida. Very quiet chiller but you will probably need to vent it outside since they put out a lot of heat. We are working on that now that summer is here and temps are in the high 80s to low 90s outside. You also want to be sure to have a lot of air circulating around the chiller or it will have to work more to keep the water cool. We originally had ours behind a couch but rearranged recently to have it in the open and it made a world of difference.

A reef tank is like a racecar. The faster you go the harder you crash.
