I keep my probes in the sump. My husband made a little holder out of acrylic when he was making the baffles and it rests in that.
The thing to do about the bubbles is somehow find where they are coming from. Most likely it is a pump or a pipe. If air is getting into your plumbing it can cause the bubbles. I would try turning things off one by one and see if you can locate the source. Then you can work on eliminating it.
