There are hidden sponges deep in the back compartments, take them all out. Add Rubble to the first chamber, i'd add it all the way to th water level. THen i would add your cheato to the second chamber with a small light so it will grow, the flow through the cheato can be pretty rapid and with all this back there it will act as mechanical filtration plus will be great for the whole system
Thanks for your input! I can't wait to get home to do some more investigating and planning. trying to sit down and plan EVERYTHING out as much as possible before actually placing the unit here in my office.

Ohh those sneaky lil rascals

I'll be making SURE they are all clean before adding anything else.

Thanks again,

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!
