| Re: Invert of the Week: Clams I have this book and it is one that I find hard to put down. I also help Barry Neigut on his Clamsdirect forums and we have plenty of new clam owners that want to do everything possible to help with new baby clams to ensure their ability to grow up to a nice size. I know no one this forum knows who Jim Norris is but he started keeping and then importing clams back in the early 80's. I drove over to Austin, where Jim used to live and watched him bowl feed his baby clams. The incredible health of these clams was simply amazing. He was into this just before Barry got into keeping, importing and selling clams on his level.
I won't buy small clams as it's way to big a hassel to do all that needs to be done to raise them. And I've had my share of clams since knowing Jim. He is paractically a legend in texas.
I wouldn't put any of the dead based phyto products in my tank and if I still was feeding my reef via that method would only use a good live based phyto, DT's, Phyto-Feast, etc. I am using the BCM of feeding my reef and love what I'm seeing this way. |
