Thumbs up Coral of the Week: Trachyphyllia (Open Brains)

This weeks coral of the week is Open Brains. There are too many different types of brains with too many different requirements to do them all in one week. So this weeks focus will be the Open Brains.

Lighting: They can take intermediate- high lighting. If kept under high lighting they must be acclimated to this lighting.

Water Flow: They can take no flow up to medium flow. In my expirence they don't like a whole lot of flow.

Aggressiveness: They aren't very aggressive at all due to short sweeper tentacles used to feed.

Hardiness: They are pretty hardy, easy to take care of and aren't that sensitive.

Colors: These generally come in red or green, and combinations of both. There are some that may be purple also.

Placement: They can either be placed on the sand or on the rocks. If placing on the rocks make sure that the skin is not touching the rock as this can damage the coral.

Feeding: These are photosynthetic and do not need to be fed, although they can be fed. I myself feed mine, I just feed it what the fish eat, whether it's pellets or frozen foods.

Here are some pictures!

There ya go!

Feel free to post questions/comments/pictures!
