Correct me if I'm wrong Don, But the threaded end is what connects to your water source , (sump return etc) the part w/ the holes faces into the aquarium. The way eductors work is by "multiplying" the water flow. They do this by drawing water in thru the holes and adding it to the return flow.
The idea is just like the Tunze streams, a flow of more volume, than velocity. I've never used on but my understanding is that they generally require pumps that can handle more back pressure...Although I'm not really sure how this design would do that, since it seems a little different than the other eductor shapes I've seen.
