| I been researching "soft start" and there seems to be two trains of thought. Some say it is important others don't.

'soft-start' on an AC motor is a pretty complicated thing. In order to 'soft-start', you'd need to be able to ramp up the AC frequency to slowly spin up the motor. AC motors will only spin at a single speed, varying the voltage will do nothing except heat up the motor. There are such things as 'soft starters' but they are pretty specialized and expensive.. Not something you would find in a $100 wave maker. So, for all intensive purposes, disregard it. |
