They are completely different. Brine has almost no nutrition and will not sustain life for any length of time. Even if you get the mandarin to eat mysis it still needs pods to survive. I would not do it without a well established system, preferrably a large one with a refugium. I know they are beautiful but unless you want to watch it slowly starve it is best left in the store.
If you do get it buy bottled live pods to try to seed your system.
