you may have heard of red 'moonlights' because part of the reason for having moonlights is to observe nocturnal behaviour. the red spectrum either isnt visible, or doesnt bother nocturnal sealife, so even with red or blue lights on, they come out. this way there is enough light for you to see whos coming out at night, without them seeing you and running back, or being deterred by daylight. |
