I think they could work in a little 12" front to back tank, you wouldn't be able to put much else in there though. have mine with softies, zoos and SPS and they really don't seem to have any chemical warfare at all... Most of my stuff is about 5-7 inches away from the coral just in case they want an extra long sweeper that night!
