I think the biggest point here that has been touched on by a few others is, when given advice from an unknown LFS employee, it becomes your responsibility to do your homework. Take the advice you hear and then come to a site like this and throw the question out there. Or do some web searches or look in some books. If the overall response matches what you were told, then that employee has built some credibility. The reverse is also true, if what they say turns out to be false, than don't trust them. It really comes down to not reacting too fast to advice before you can finish your homework.
