I am running a 75 gallon RR tank, so about 18" of water with sand. I am running a 175 watt Metal Halide Yard lights from Lowes on mine, with the original bulb. It covers the whole tank and makes the algae grow like mad. Only paid 25.00 for each light with Bulb. I then just bypassed the light sensor that makes it only come on at night.

DIY is my dream... ...well OK the only way I can afford this Addiction!!
Just as the light goes on in my head... ... I break the bulb!!
