That depends on the wattage you use and how far above the tank it is mounted as well as where in the house it is located, if you run a single 250 watt pendant kept 6-8" above the tank you may not need a chiller, there are a lot of people who run MH without one and a lot that do, the only way to tell for sure is after installed and checking temps. If the tank is in a basement that is another factor vs. being on the top floor where inside temps tend to be higher.
