lighting is another issue, penetration to the bottom would be impossible.
gas exchange would be an issue [small surface area vs. volume] might create an anoxic zone at the bottom of a 8ftr. leading to an impossible to clean black gooey mess of a sand bed....but still...would sure be neat to see
